About Immigration Nation
Immigration Nation is an edublog created by the American Immigration Law Foundation (AILF) to inspire students to speak their mind about immigration. Immigration Nation is moderated by educators and shared in classrooms across this increasingly diverse nation in an effort to open a thoughtful dialogue about immigration and diversity.
However you view immigration today, there is no denying that America is a nation of immigrants. Immigrants are people too—doctors, lawyers, teachers, students, bus drivers and rocket scientists alike—each with his/her own unique story. Instead of building borders around this controversial topic, Immigration Nation serves as a platform where students can freely express his/her immigration experience. Promote a better understanding of immigrants and immigration by sharing your thoughts!
Everyone has a story to tell and we’d like to hear yours! Whether it’s your own immigration experience, your neighbor’s, friend’s or family’s, your story is important and needs to be heard. Just think about how many people might think of immigration differently after they hear what you have to say. Change can start with just a few small words.
In the words of anthropologist Margaret Mead, “A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” Start change in your classroom, community and world blogging your thoughts and experiences. Learning can be cool…especially when it’s from each other.
Tell your teacher about Immigration Nation today. Visit “Getting Started” on the left toolbar for specifics on how to post on Immigration Nation and start blogging!
